African American investment art opportunitiesThe Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia is presenting "Black Renaissance: Celebrating African-American Arts, Traditions and Community." The exhibition, which spotlights two- and three-dimensional works from 24 local African-American artists, features a variety of materials, techniques and approaches to the creative process. Artist, art educator and art historian Anita Holloway curated the show with artist and art educator William Johnson. The exhibition grew out of their desire to celebrate the sense of community that inspires and supports the African-American art experience. The show runs through Oct. 6 at The Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia, 00 E. Clay St. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For details, call (804) 780-9093.-- Jo Lord read also : african culture |
